THE LUZZ INFERNO built a reputation around explosive power, and the Luzz Inferno2 M1 takes that formula a step further. Designed for competitive players who want power they can count on, the latest Inferno retains the elongated shape and firepower of the previous model while introducing an upgraded core, return ring and grit surface designed for greater consistency and durability.
For players who want pop and spin without wondering whether the next shot will respond like the last, the Inferno2 M1 offers an appealing combination.
An Elongated Shape Built for Power
One of the first things that distinguishes the Inferno2 M1 is its elongated shape. The 16.54-inch length provides extra reach and leverage, particularly on serves and groundstrokes, while the 7.48-inch width keeps the profile streamlined.
The paddle carries a swing weight of approximately 121, giving it considerable plow-through on drives and deeper shots. The tradeoff is that it swings heavier than many elongated paddles, particularly during fast exchanges at the kitchen.
With a twist weight of approximately 6.1, forgiveness is fairly typical for an elongated paddle rather than one of the Inferno2 M1’s defining strengths.
Power Comes First
The Inferno2 M1 is fundamentally a power-oriented paddle. Its upgraded MPP2™ Power Core is engineered to provide more consistent rebound across the entire face, helping reduce the difference between center and off-center contact.
Rather than simply maximizing raw power, Luzz has focused on making that power more predictable. The original Inferno delivered plenty of firepower, but the Inferno2 M1 is designed to produce a more uniform response from shot to shot.
The TPEE Dynamic Return Ring™ works with the core to keep energy inside the paddle while creating a wider, more stable sweet spot and cleaner pop through rapid exchanges. Together, the technologies give aggressive players the ability to drive through the ball while maintaining a more consistent response.
More Grip on the Ball
One of the most significant upgrades is the Aero-Black™ Grit Face. Instead of relying on grit sprayed onto the surface, Luzz integrates silicon carbide particles directly into the face.
The result is a noticeably textured surface designed to maintain friction longer through extended play. On the court, that additional grip gives players more opportunity to shape serves, drives, rolls, dinks and flicks.
For players familiar with the original Inferno, spin is one of the areas where the Inferno2 M1 makes its strongest case as an upgrade. The grittier face provides more bite while addressing one of the durability concerns associated with surfaces that can wear smooth over time.
Fast Power With Some Weight Behind It
Power paddles often require a tradeoff between stability and maneuverability, and the Inferno2 M1 is no exception.
At approximately 8 ounces with a swing weight around 121, this is not an especially light or quick-swinging paddle. The additional mass provides depth and plow-through from the baseline but asks more of the player during rapid hand battles at the kitchen.
Players with quick mechanics should be able to take advantage of the added weight behind the ball. Those who prioritize extremely fast hands or a lighter feel at the net may find the Inferno2 M1 more demanding.
A Paddle for Aggressive Players
The Inferno2 M1 is best suited for competitive players who generate offense through drives, serves, counters and speed-ups.
Its elongated profile provides additional reach, while the combination of the MPP2™ Power Core, TPEE Dynamic Return Ring™ and Aero-Black™ Grit Face gives players a blend of power, spin and consistency.
Control-first players who prefer deep ball pocketing and an especially soft response may want something more forgiving. The same is true for developing players who are still working toward consistent contact and may benefit from a wider hitting surface.
The Inferno2 M1 is UPA-A approved for professional tournament play and is backed by Luzz’s one-year manufacturer warranty against defects.
Tama Shimabukuro Makes the Switch
The Inferno2 M1 is also getting attention at the pro level. Tama Shimabukuro, the 15-year-old professional from Honolulu, played with the Luzz Inferno2 M1 paddle at the Sansan Tokyo Open in July and switched to the Luzz brand after signing a paddle deal with Luzz in September.
Shimabukuro turned pro in 2025 and has quickly emerged as one of pickleball’s young players to watch, competing on both the PPA Tour in the United States and PPA Tour Asia. His quick, dynamic style makes the Inferno2 M1 an interesting fit, particularly given the paddle’s combination of power, spin and consistent rebound.
Seeing a young professional with that kind of speed choose the Inferno2 M1 also reinforces one of the paddle’s strengths: it is designed for competitive players who want aggressive performance and power that holds up from shot to shot.
The Verdict
The Luzz Inferno2 M1 succeeds by taking the raw firepower of the original Inferno and concentrating on making that performance more consistent.
The MPP2™ Power Core provides more uniform rebound across the face, while the TPEE Dynamic Return Ring™ supports stability and energy return. The Aero-Black™ Grit Face is perhaps the most notable upgrade, integrating silicon carbide into the surface rather than relying on sprayed-on grit to provide longer-lasting spin.
This is still very much a power paddle. Its elongated profile and higher swing weight reward deliberate, aggressive swings, but players who prioritize quick maneuverability or an especially soft touch may prefer a different setup.
For competitive players who want power, spin and a surface built for greater endurance, the Inferno2 M1 offers a substantial evolution of the original Inferno. At $239, however, it sits firmly in the premium paddle category.
