The Grip Solution for Sweaty Hands
Dry hands. Superior control. No residue. Better playing.

Sweaty hands can become more than an annoyance on a pickleball court. As moisture builds during a long game, outdoor play in the heat or an extended tournament day, maintaining a secure connection between hand and paddle can become increasingly difficult. Overgrips can help, but once the hand itself is wet, even a good grip can begin to lose effectiveness.
Gamer Grip Racquet & Paddle takes a different approach. Rather than adding tackiness to the paddle handle or absorbing moisture after it appears, the formula is designed to reduce perspiration at the source, creating an invisible moisture barrier on the hands.
Originally developed for gaming, Gamer Grip has expanded into several performance categories, including racquet and paddle sports, golf, strength and fitness. Its pickleball-focused Racquet & Paddle formula applies the same basic idea to a problem players regularly encounter on court: keeping the paddle secure without adding something sticky, chalky or messy to the grip.
How It Works
Gamer Grip is a liquid antiperspirant formula applied directly to the hands. A small amount is rubbed between the palms until dry, creating a moisture barrier intended to keep the hands naturally dry for up to four hours. The formula dries without leaving the sticky or greasy coating associated with some grip-enhancing products.
For pickleball players, the distinction is important. Gamer Grip is not intended to make the paddle handle artificially tacky. Instead, it addresses the moisture that can cause a player’s hand to slip against the grip in the first place.
Application is straightforward. Start with clean, completely dry hands, shake the bottle, apply approximately a pea-sized amount and rub the hands together until the product has dried. The supplied product information indicates a drying time of approximately 15 to 30 seconds.
Once dry, there is no visible layer of chalk on the hands and no substance that needs to be applied directly to the paddle.
Why It Makes Sense for Pickleball
Pickleball places considerable demands on the connection between a player’s hand and paddle. Drives, quick exchanges at the kitchen line, resets and changes in grip pressure all require the paddle to remain stable while still allowing the player to maintain a relaxed hand.
Sweat can interfere with that relationship. A player may begin gripping the paddle more tightly simply to prevent it from moving, particularly during hot outdoor play.
Gamer Grip’s appeal is its simplicity. It does not require changing the paddle, adding another overgrip or coating the handle with a tack-enhancing substance. The product works on the hand instead.
Professional pickleball player and 14-time professional tennis title winner Hunter Johnson was already using Gamer Grip before signing a one-year partnership with the company. Johnson, a 10-time PPA men’s singles champion currently ranked third in the world in men’s pickleball singles, specifically cited Gamer Grip’s ability to keep his hands dry without making his paddle feel sticky or leaving residue on the handle.
“Grip is one of those details that can decide a point, especially in long matches or when you’re playing in heat,” Johnson said. “I started using Gamer Grip because it keeps my hands dry without making the paddle feel sticky or leaving residue on the handle.”
This may be the product’s strongest selling point for pickleball. The objective is not to create more grip by making the hand stickier. It is to keep moisture from interfering with the grip the player already has.

Clean Instead of Chalky
Gamer Grip also separates itself from traditional chalk-based grip products. Chalk primarily manages moisture on the surface of the skin. Gamer Grip uses an antiperspirant ingredient to reduce perspiration while other ingredients help the formula dry quickly. According to the supplied product information, the formula includes aluminum chlorohydrate, isopropyl alcohol, hydrated silica, kaolin clay and spearmint leaf oil.
The result is intended to be invisible once dry. There is no white chalk coating on the hands and no powder transferring from the hand to the paddle grip.
For players who invest heavily in paddles and frequently replace overgrips, the no-residue aspect is particularly attractive. Gamer Grip says its formula will not damage or leave residue on paddles, racquets or grips.
The Four-Hour Claim
Gamer Grip says one application can keep hands dry for up to four hours. This duration could cover an entire recreational session for many players and reduce the need to stop repeatedly during tournament play to reapply a grip product. Actual duration will naturally depend on the player, conditions and amount of perspiration, and “up to four hours” should be treated as the manufacturer’s maximum-duration claim rather than a guarantee for every player.
The portability also works well for pickleball. A small container can stay in a paddle bag and requires only a small amount per application.
A Growing Presence in Racquet Sports
Gamer Grip is making a deliberate move into the broader racquet-sports market. The company has been named the Official Dry Hand Performance Solution of the Racquet Sports Professionals Association, giving it a connection to more than 14,000 teaching professionals worldwide.
Its partnership with Johnson extends that strategy directly into pro pickleball. Johnson reached No. 1 in the PPA men’s singles rankings in August 2025 and won men’s singles at the 2026 Pickleball National Championships in Cary, NC, according to the company’s announcement.
The endorsement is more meaningful because Johnson was using the product before the sponsorship agreement. It does not prove that Gamer Grip will perform identically for every player, but it provides a stronger connection between the athlete and product than an endorsement built entirely around a newly signed sponsorship.

In or Out?
Gamer Grip Racquet & Paddle addresses a very specific problem without trying to change the feel of the paddle itself. For players whose hands become noticeably sweaty during long games, tournament play or hot-weather sessions, preventing moisture before it reaches the grip is an appealing alternative to continually wiping hands, changing overgrips or applying chalk.
Its quick application, invisible finish, lack of sticky residue and claimed four-hour performance window make it particularly well suited to pickleball. Players who rarely experience sweaty hands may not need another product in their paddle bag, but for those who regularly struggle to maintain a secure grip, Gamer Grip offers a practical solution with very little disruption to their normal equipment setup. ●
