Singapore Gets Its First Waterpark Pickleball Courts

Downtown East opens Pickle Splash at Wild Wild Wet
PICKLEBALL HAS OFFICIALLY made a splash in Singapore, quite literally. In a city where court space is precious and demand for play continues to surge, Downtown East has introduced something entirely new to the local sporting landscape: Pickle Splash at Wild Wild Wet, the nation’s first pickleball courts located inside a waterpark.
The concept blends two of Singapore’s favorite pastimes, sport and leisure, into one compact, sun-drenched setting in the eastern part of the island. The result is a hybrid experience where players can trade dinks beside water slides and cool off in the pool between matches.
A First-of-Its-Kind Facility
Pickle Splash officially opened in February at Wild Wild Wet, one of Singapore’s most popular waterparks. Located near the park’s Royal Flush waterslide attraction, the facility features two full-sized, water-resistant pickleball courts designed to withstand the humid, splash-heavy environment.
While Singapore has seen a rapid expansion of dedicated pickleball facilities in recent years, this marks the first time courts have been integrated directly into a waterpark setting.
The setup is straightforward: two courts, resting benches and tables nearby, and open-air play that allows players to move seamlessly from paddle to pool. It is pickleball with a tropical twist.
Meeting Surging Demand
The launch comes amid an ongoing pickleball boom across the Little Red Dot. Courts across public and private facilities are frequently booked out, and finding open slots, especially in the evenings, can be a challenge.
By introducing Pickle Splash, Wild Wild Wet is addressing two trends simultaneously: the shortage of available courts and the appetite for more recreational, lifestyle-driven play experiences.
Unlike traditional sports complexes, the waterpark setting reframes pickleball as part of a broader day-out experience. Families can book a court session, rally for an hour, and then float down the Shiok River or tackle the park’s signature slides.
The positioning is intentional. Pickle Splash caters to players of all ages and skill levels, reinforcing pickleball’s reputation as an accessible, intergenerational sport.
Rates and Access
One of the more appealing aspects of Pickle Splash is its affordability. Court bookings are priced as follows:
- Off-peak (Mon-Fri, 12pm-7pm): $12/hour
- Peak (Sat-Sun & -Holidays, 11am-7pm): $16/hour
Equipment rental is also available. Players can rent pickleball sets, consisting of a paddle and ball, for $5 per set, with up to four sets per booking.
Importantly, entry to the waterpark itself is not included in court reservations. Guests without a Wild Wild Wet ticket are restricted to the Pickle Splash area, although they may purchase park admission separately if they wish to access the full range of attractions. Waterpark tickets start from $29.
The courts are closed on Tuesdays and operate only between 12pm and 7pm on weekdays, which limits early morning or after-work play. They are also unsheltered, meaning Singapore’s midday heat can be intense. However, players are allowed to reschedule bookings within 30 days in the event of rain.
Despite those constraints, the relatively low hourly rates, especially compared to private indoor facilities, position Pickle Splash as one of the more accessible court options on the island.
A Lifestyle Evolution
Pickleball’s expansion into a waterpark setting speaks to the sport’s evolving identity. Once perceived as a niche pastime, it has become a lifestyle marker across Asia, with players embracing it not only for competition but for community and social connection.
In Singapore, that lifestyle integration is accelerating. From community centers to private clubs and rooftop courts, pickleball is increasingly woven into urban recreational spaces. Pickle Splash pushes that boundary further, merging sport with entertainment.
The lagoon-side courts create a distinctly casual atmosphere. One moment, players are engaged in a tight kitchen exchange; the next, they are grabbing towels and heading toward the slides. It is less about rigid league structure and more about fluid, recreational engagement.
Strategic Location
For players living in the eastern part of Singapore, Pickle Splash offers a welcome addition to the map. Court availability has historically been more concentrated in central and western areas, leaving East-side residents with fewer convenient options.
While the location may not be central for all players, those residing nearby now have the option to combine sport with leisure in a single venue, a compelling draw for families and weekend groups.
What It Signals for Singapore
Singapore’s pickleball community has grown rapidly over the past few years, and the introduction of Pickle Splash signals both confidence and creativity in that growth.
It reflects continued demand for accessible courts, broader commercial investment in recreational pickleball, and shift toward experiential, lifestyle-driven play.
As more countries experiment with hybrid venues and destination courts, Singapore’s first waterpark installation places it at the forefront of inventive urban integration.
Whether Pickle Splash becomes a long-term model or remains a novelty, it undeniably adds a new dimension to the island’s sporting ecosystem.
In a city known for maximizing limited space, pickleball has found yet another unexpected home, between the slides, beside the lagoon, and under the tropical sun. And in Singapore, that feels perfectly on brand.
